HC Deb 25 April 1932 vol 265 c3
2. Mr. McENTEE

asked the Secretary of State for India whether the saving of £36,000 in contributions paid to the Government of India in respect of the Navy, Army, and Air Force Insurance Fund has been effected by transferring the sailors, soldiers, and airmen employed in India in insurance to the Indian taxpayer?

Sir S. HOARE

I presume the hon. Member is referring to the sum of £36,000 paid by His Majesty's Government last year in respect of the Government of India's share of the surplus of the Navy, Army and Air Force Insurance Fund appropriated to the Exchequer under the provisions of the Economy Act, 1926. The position of soldiers and airmen employed in India is unaffected by this payment.
