HC Deb 21 April 1932 vol 264 c1626
22. Lieut.-Colonel SANDEMAN ALLEN

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether, in view of the sums lost by British private investors by the defaults of the Chilean, Brazilian, and Mexican Governments, he will consider setting up a committee similar to that formerly set up by the Treasury to examine proposals for bank amalgamations to investigate future attempts to float the bonds of the above-mentioned countries on the London market and forbid further flotations and sales here of bonds of those countries unless the examining committee is satisfied that specific revenues have been hypothecated to the services of the loans so as to secure the British public against loss?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Major Elliot)

I would refer to the reply given to my hon. Friend the Member for Farnham (Sir A. M. Samuel) on 12th April.
