HC Deb 13 April 1932 vol 264 cc795-6
2. Sir ASSHETON POWNALL

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what is the position with regard to flag discrimination by the Portuguese Government?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Mr. Eden)

I understand that the Portuguese Govern- ment are actively considering a scheme of maritime credits to be put into operation on the abolition of flag discrimination, and I hope that a definite reply from the Portuguese Government to the representations made by His Majesty's Ambassador at Lisbon will not be long delayed.
