22. Colonel WEDGWOOD

asked the President of the Board of Trade what was the total value of the following raw and semi-raw materials imported into this country in the year 1929–30: cobalt, liquid gold, bone, and ceramic transfers?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

Particulars of the imports of the commodities specified by my right hon. Friend are not available, as they are not separately recorded in the trade returns of the United Kingdom, but during the years 1929 and 1930 the declared value of the total imports into this country of cobalt and cobalt alloys was £206,000 and £116,000, respectively, of cobalt oxide £161,000 and £142,000, respectively, and of bones and horns for manufacturing purposes (other than glue-making and for manure) £71,000 and £41,000, respectively.
