asked the Secretary of State for India, in view of the present financial situation, what reductions are contemplated in the salaries and allowances paid to troops and/or persons in the employ of the Government of India?

I am not in a position to give any information on this subject at present, but I hope to be able to do so very shortly.

Mr. DAY

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when he hopes to be able to give any information to the House?
