§ Major ELLIOTThe total amount paid in commutation of pensions to the descendants of deceased Army and Navy officers for the past 20 years is £58,060 in commutation of a perpetual charge of £2,720 a year. Two such pensions still remain, one of them terminable at the decease of the present holder.
