§ 46. Mr. McSHANEasked the Prime Minister whether any and, if so, what proposals are under consideration to prevent further increases in the unemployment figures?
§ Mr. S. BALDWINI would refer the hon. Member to the answer given by the Prime Minister on Monday last in reply to a question by the hon. Member for Leicester East (Mr. Wise).
§ Mr. McSHANEIs the right hon. Gentleman aware that there was not a single specific scheme to prevent further unemployment in that reply?
§ Mr. BALDWINIt was only the day before yesterday that the Prime Minister said our attention would be devoted urgently to the measures necessary to correct the unfavourable trade position. Nothing further can be added to-day.
§ Mr. HERBERT MORRISONWould the right hon. Gentleman consult with the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Education, who repeatedly put such questions to the late Government and who is obviously brimful of ideas?
