HC Deb 23 September 1931 vol 256 c1635
30. Mr. HERBERT MORRISON

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is taking any steps to secure greater safety for road traffic on the Great West Road?

Mr. PYBUS

I am very concerned as to the number of accidents which are reported on this road. Discussions have taken place between officials of my Department and of the Middlesex County Council. I understand that additional refuges are to be provided and that it is proposed to lay a white line along the centre of the road for the purpose of separating the opposing streams of traffic. Further measures, including the improvement of the lay-out of certain of the junctions, are also under consideration.

Lieut. - Commander KENWORTHY

Can a white line be put on the Treasury Bench also?

Mr. McSHANE

Would not a white sheet be better?
