HC Deb 17 September 1931 vol 256 c1027
45. Mr. D. G. SOMERVILLE

asked the Prime Minister whether the Government proposes to proceed with the Slaughter of Animals Bill?

The PRIME MINISTER

As has already been announced by the Government, it will not be possible in present circumstances to give facilities for Private Members' Bills.

Mr. LAWTHER

Does the Prime Minister not think the Slaughter of Animals Bill, or the matter contained therein, would be more human than the inhuman methods adopted with the unemployed?
