HC Deb 16 September 1931 vol 256 c841
45. Mr. MANDER

asked the Prime Minister if he will consider the possibility of passing into law by general consent the Rates of Wages Bill, presenting proposals agreed to by representatives of employers and employed?

The PRIME MINISTER

In accordance with the general policy announced by the Government, it will not be possible, in present circumstances, to proceed with this Bill.

Mr. MANDER

Does the right hon. Gentleman not think that in existing circumstances it is peculiarly important that. a Measure of this kind should be proceeded with, and will he be good enough to make inquiries to see whether the general consent of both sides of the House can be obtained to this Bill?

The PRIME MINISTER

I shall be very glad to make those inquiries.
