HC Deb 14 September 1931 vol 256 c502
22. Mr. ROSS

asked the Postmaster-General how many district post offices in. Northern Ireland have been reduced status this year; and what proportion these bear to the total number in. Northern Ireland?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

One head post office has been reduced in status, out of a total of 17.

Mr. ROSS

Will my right hon. Friend undertake to make proportionate reductions in other parts of the United Kingdom?

Mr. ORMSBY-GORE

As a matter of fact, a certain number, I gather, have been reduced recently, and where economies can be effected without loss to the public services they will be made.
