HC Deb 14 September 1931 vol 256 c496
11. Lord BALNIEL

asked the Under-Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what is the annual cost of taking down broadcast messages fromm Moscow; and whether it is proposed to continue this practice?

Captain EDEN

The estimated cost for the current year of recording the messages broadcast in English from Moscow is approximately £550. In the present circumstances, my Noble Friend does not consider this expenditure justified, and has decided to discontinue it as a regular practice.

Mr. R. A. TAYLOR

Have these translations been carried out by British nationals or by Russians?

Captain EDEN

I must have notice of that question.
