HC Deb 30 November 1931 vol 260 c751
36. Captain PEAKE

asked the Minister of Agriculture what proportion of beef sold in the Leeds district at the present time is subjected to the National Mark; 'and whether he is satisfied with the progress of the National Mark scheme for that area?

Sir J. GILMOUR

At the City Abattoir, Leeds, during the four weeks ended 14th November last, nearly 40 per cent, of the beef (including ungradable supplies) was graded and marked with the National Mark; a substantial quantity also was graded and marked in private slaughterhouses. In reply to the last part of the question, I await the report of the Inter-Departmental Committee which is investigating the progress of the scheme in Leeds and other areas.
