§ The SECRETARY of STATE for INDIA (Sir Samuel Hoare)I assume that my hon. Friend is referring to the Indian Civil Service and not to the whole of the Civil Services of India. The number of Indian members of that service on 1st January, 1931, was 427 or 33 per cent. of the total.
