HC Deb 30 November 1931 vol 260 cc734-5
23. Mr. RHYS DAVIES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs what steps have been taken to carry out His Majesty's Government's expressed intention to observe the Armaments Truce which was agreed to by the twelfth assembly of the League of Nations?

Sir J. SIMON

On the 14th of November the President of the Council of the League of Nations notified all States invited to the Disarmament Conference that, unless Governments forthwith notified objection, the Armaments Truce would be considered to be in force for one year from the 1st of November last. His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom have not notified any objection, and, so far as they know, no other Government have done so. The Truce is, therefore, in force, and its terms will be observed by His Majesty's Government. No other action is required.
