HC Deb 30 November 1931 vol 260 cc744-5
68. Vice-Admiral TAYLOR

asked the Secretary of State for the Colonies whether, as the treaty of St. Germain- en-Laye is now due for revision, he will say what action the Government propose to take?

The SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Sir Philip Cunliffe-Lister)

No statement can be made at present.

Vice-Admiral TAYLOR

Can I have an assurance that this matter is receiving the right hon. Gentleman's earnest attention and consideration, especially with regard to the export trade of this country?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

Yes, Sir.

Brigadier - General Sir HENRY CROFT

Will notice be taken of this matter before the Imperial Conference?

Sir P. CUNLIFFE-LISTER

I think that question is really a separate one. The question here is whether the continuance or not of this particular agreement is in the best interests of British trade, and the trade of these Dependencies.
