HC Deb 26 November 1931 vol 260 c513
94. Captain P. MACDONALD

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether the valuations being carried out under Section 3 of the Finance Act of 1931 are in any way affected by the recent fluctuations in the value of the pound sterling; and, if so, whether he will consider the advisability of ordering the cessation of this work in view of the expense involved?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I would refer the hon. and gallant Member to the answer that I gave to the hon. and gallant Member for Dulwich (Sir F. Hall) on the 19th November. I can as yet add nothing to that reply.

Captain MACDONALD

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when a statement will be made? Will it be before the Recess?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have already said so several times.

Captain MACDONALD

Can the right hon. Gentleman say when the statement will be made. Will it be before the House rises?

Mr. CHAMBERLAIN

I have said so several times.
