HC Deb 18 November 1931 vol 259 c831
10. Mr. McGOVERN

asked the First Lord of the Admiralty the annual amount of money' involved in the recent concessions made to the men in the Royal Navy as a result of the wage-cut protests at Invergordon?

Sir B. EYRES MONSELL

The immediate cost of the recent concessions to men of the Royal Navy and Royal Marines consequent upon the decision of His Majesty's Government to limit the reductions in pay of teachers, police and the three Defence Services to not more than 10 per cent., is estimated at £385,000 approximately.

Mr. McGOVERN

Can the First Lord answer the question as to the amount of the concession to the men in the Royal Navy alone?

Sir B. EYRES MONSELL

That is in the answer I have given.

Viscountess AST0R

Does not the First Lord think that this is a very mischievous question and that the answer has been given by the Royal Navy in voting for the National Government and not for the Socialists?
