HC Deb 16 November 1931 vol 259 c504
51. Major NATHAN

asked the Prime Minister whether any member of His Majesty's Government has been designated to fulfil the functions in relation to unemployment, entrusted during the late Labour Administration to successive Lords Privy Seal?

The PRIME MINISTER

None has yet been designated. As has been the practice for some time, each Departmental Minister will be responsible under the Cabinet for matters arising within his own field, and questions relating to particular matters should be addressed to the Departmental Ministers concerned. In the meantime, when matters of general policy dealing with unemployment are involved, questions should be addressed to me.

Sir J. NALL

Is it not a fact that the plea for special provision of this kind will disappear if the present Government gets on with the job for which it was elected?
