HC Deb 12 November 1931 vol 259 cc246-7
9. Mr. LEWIS

asked the Secretary of State for the Home Department if he will consider the desirability of further measures for the restriction of the sale of pistols in this country?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the HOME DEPARTMENT (Mr. Oliver Stanley)

As at present advised, my right hon. Friend knows of no reason for thinking that the existing law is inadequate. If the hon. Member can submit any facts which in his view suggest that amendment is needed, they will, of course, receive consideration.

Mr. LEWIS

Has my hon. Friend considered the very grave danger to which cashiers, bank messengers and others are subject on account of the ease with which criminals can obtain firearms in this country?

Mr. STANLEY

That is one of the considerations which my hon. Friend might bring to the specific notice of the Home Secretary.
