HC Deb 21 May 1931 vol 252 cc2175-6
11. Sir KINGSLEY WOOD

asked the Home Secretary the present position with regard to the Factories Bill?

Mr. CLYNES

As was explained in reply to a previous question, the Government have been anxious to proceed with this Bill during the present Session if it seemed practicable, having regard to other commitments, to carry it through all its stages. I am afraid that in view of the legislation to which Parliament is already committed and the present state of business, a postponement of this Bill for the present Session appears now to be inevitable.

Sir K. WOOD

Is the other legislation to which the Home Secretary referred, the Alternative Vote and the Trade Disputes Bill, and matters of that kind?

Mr. CLYNES

The other legislation is within the knowledge of hon. Members, especially of the more active Members of the House.

Lieut.-Colonel FREMANTLE

May I ask whether the right hon. Gentleman remembers the terms in which his party referred to the Trade Disputes Bill—[Interruption.]
