HC Deb 20 May 1931 vol 252 cc1975-6
66. Mr. DAY

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he can give particulars of the amount of money expended and charged to the British taxpayer in the prosecution of Mr. Gialdini in Italy?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

The expenditure incurred to date in connection with the prosecution of Mr. Gialdini in Italy amounts to £594.

Mr. A. M. SAMUEL

Will the hon. Gentleman ask the Italian authorities to bring this man to trial so that this expense may be stopped? Is he aware that he has been 14 months in prison without trial?

Mr. PETHICK-LAWRENCE

That does not rest with me
