HC Deb 14 May 1931 vol 252 cc1351-2
37. Mr. EDE

asked the Minister of Health how many applications to vary a town planning scheme have been received by his Department during each of the last three years for which statistics are available; how many such applications have been wholly refused; how many have been granted; and how many have been granted but with modifications?

The MINISTER of HEALTH (Mr. Arthur Greenwood)

The number of applications for my approval to vary town planning schemes during the last three years ending on 31st March were two each year. I disapproved one, and approved two, without modifications, and three, with modifications on matters of drafting.

43. Captain CROOKSHANK

asked the Minister of Health if he can state the names of the members and the terms of reference of the committee on satellite towns?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I am not at present in a position to make any statement on this matter.

Captain CROOKSHANK

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the Lord Privy Seal said the provision of these towns was a remedy for unemployment? Are we to take it that the Government are no longer interested in that question?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I think the hon. and gallant Gentleman is misinformed.

Captain CROOKSHANK

Is the right hon. Gentleman aware that the hon. and gallant Gentleman heard and replied to the Lord Privy Seal, which is more than he did?

44. Sir KINGSLEY WOOD

asked the Minister of Health when the report of the committee which is examining the reports of the regional planning committees will be available to Members of the House?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I regret that I am not yet in a position to furnish the information.

Sir K. WOOD

When is the right hon. Gentleman going to make a statement?

Mr. GREENWOOD

I will let the right hon. Gentleman know when we can make a statement.
