HC Deb 13 May 1931 vol 252 cc1167-8
11. Mr. G. LOCKER-LAMPSON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether any negotiations are in progress between His Majesty's Government and the Abyssinian Government respecting the waters of Lake Tsana?

Mr. DALTON

The answer is in the negative. As my right hon. Friend informed the hon. Member for Moseley (Mr. P. Hannon) on the 2nd of June, 1930, it was arranged, after negotiations with the Abyssinian Government, that a preliminary technical study of the site of the reservoir should be undertaken and a project for its construction prepared. This survey has only just been completed, and it is unlikely that the preparation of the project will be completed until the autumn.
