HC Deb 05 May 1931 vol 252 cc201-2
45. Major OWEN

asked the Prime Minister if he proposes to introduce during the present Session the necessary legislation to authorise the setting up of a Secretary of State for Wales?

The PRIME MINISTER (Mr. Ramsay MacDonald)

I cannot see my way to adopt the hon. and gallant Member's suggestion at present.

Major OWEN

Will the right hon. Gentleman agree to set up a committee in reference to Wales, similar to the committee which has been set up to inquire into the question of Home Rule for Scotland?

The PRIME MINISTER

That does not arise out of the question. The question relates to the appointment of a Secretary of State for Wales.

Sir F. HALL

Would not it be a nice job for the right hon. Gentleman the Member for Carnarvon Boroughs (Mr. Lloyd George)?
