HC Deb 05 May 1931 vol 252 cc199-200
40. Sir K. WOOD

asked the Minister of Transport if he can make any statement concerning the provisional agreement with the underground railway companies in relation to certain provisions of the London Passenger Transport Bill; and whether he now proposes to enter into negotiations with the London County Council and other persons similarly concerned?

Mr. PARKINSON

The terms upon which it is proposed that the undertakings of the underground group of companies shall be transferred to the London Passenger Transport Board have been fully reported in the Press, and my right hon. Friend does not consider that any useful purpose would be served by anticipating the statement which will be made when the Joint Committee on the Bill reassembles on 12th May. My right hon. Friend is always ready to discuss outstanding questions with other parties affected by the Bill.

Sir K. WOOD

How is it that the right hon. Gentleman has entered into negotiations with the passenger undertakings, and has not initiated negotiations with the London County Council?

Mr. PARKINSON

I will make inquiry into that matter.

Mr. BROCKWAY

Will it be open to this House to discuss these arrangements before they are completed?

Mr. PARKINSON

I think the hon. Member had better give notice of that question.
