HC Deb 04 May 1931 vol 252 cc32-3
71. Colonel HOWARD-BURY

asked the Under-Secretary of State for the Colonies whether he can give any information with regard to the negotiations that are going on between the Colonial Office and the Jewish organisations of Palestine; and who are the representatives on both sides?

The UNDER-SECRETARY of STATE for the COLONIES (Dr. Drummond Shiels)

There have been recent discussions with representatives of the Jewish agency on the subject of the proposed development scheme in Palestine. I do not think that I could usefully give further particulars at the present stage.

Colonel HOWARD-BURY

Can the hon. Gentleman at least give us this assurance—that the terms of the White Paper are not going to be further whittled down?

Dr. SHIELS

I do not think that the hon. and gallant Member will regard it as necessary for me to answer that question.

Colonel HOWARD-BURY

Does that mean that the hon. Gentleman cannot answer it?
