HC Deb 17 March 1931 vol 249 cc1846-7
40. Mr. MATTERS

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he proposes to take any action upon the report of the League of Nations on forced labour to restrict the volume of imports from the Dutch East Indies, particularly as regards the products of compulsory or forced labour?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

I presume that my hon. Friend has in mind the report issued by the International Labour Office in preparation for the discussion by the International Labour Conference of the Draft Convention on Forced Labour which was adopted in June last. I am not aware of any circumstances relating to forced labour in the Netherlands East Indies which would require that any action of the kind suggested should be taken.
