HC Deb 17 March 1931 vol 249 cc1860-1
69. Mr. DAY

asked the President of the Board of Trade what is his decision with regard to the representations recently made to him on the subject of legislation to amend the Cinematograph Films Act, 1927?

Mr. W. GRAHAM

No such representations have been made to me recently.

Mr. DAY

Is my right hon. Friend satisfied that the quota provisions are working satisfactorily?

Mr. GRAHAM

That, of course, as my hon. Friend knows, is only a part of the Act, and, although representations were made at one time on different features of it, I am unable, at all events until we have longer experience, to promise any additional legislation.

Viscountess ASTOR

Does this involve the question of the censorship of films?

Mr. GRAHAM

No; that does not lie with me at all; that is for the trade itself.
