§ 56. Mr. TURTONasked the Postmaster-General what are the necessary qualifications for the recipient of a licence to sell stamps in a township; what salary is paid to such a licence holder; and what commission he receives upon the sale of stamps and money and postal orders, respectively?
§ Mr. ATTLEENo special qualifications are required for the holder of a stamp licence, but the Post Office must of course be satisfied that the person is suitable and that the issue of a licence is justified by public requirements. No salary or commission is paid to a licensee, and the licence does not cover any other class of Post Office business.
§ Mr. TURTONWill the hon. Gentleman consider the advisability of granting a salary and commission in order that more people in these small villages may be licensed to sell postage stamps thereby saving a considerable cost in fully-established officers?
§ Mr. ATTLEEThere is no difficulty in obtaining a sufficient number for this purpose.
