§ 68. Sir K. WOODasked the Secretary of State for Dominion Affairs whether he has any information as to the arrangements, if any, which are being made by the Dominions in preparation for the proposed meeting of the economic section of the Imperial Conference in Ottawa this year?
§ Mr. HANNONSurely the right hon. Gentleman will make some statement on this matter?
§ Mr. THOMASWhen I make a statement, it will be a full, comprehensive, and useful one.
§ Sir K. WOODThe right hon. Gentleman answered so softly that I hardly realised what he was saying. Does he mean to say that he has had no communication from the Dominions in regard to any of the arrangements suggested?
§ Mr. THOMASThat is not the question on the Paper. I answered that question a week ago, but that is not the point now. Certainly there are negotiations.
Earl WINTERTONIs the right hon. Gentleman in communication with the Dominion Governments on this subject through the ordinary channels?
§ Mr. THOMASCertainly.
§ Mr. THOMASIt depends on the Dominions. As the right hon. Gentleman is aware, it affects different Dominions; it is not a matter which affects one Dominion alone.
