§ The ASSISTANT POSTMASTER- GENERAL (Mr. Viant)According to the latest available figures, the total number of scale-payment sub-postmasters is approximately 21,000. The average rate of remuneration is about £115 a year 1392 and the average rate of reduction as a result of the recent alteration in bonus £6 a year. The numbers in receipt of inclusive emoluments not exceeding (a) £100 and (b) £75 are roughly 13,000 and 11,000, respectively.
