§ 35. Mr. PYBUSasked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether, in view of the publicity campaign which is being conducted in the advertising columns of the Press and elsewhere in favour of Continental watering places, the method being to belittle English seaside resorts and to emphasise by contrast the absence abroad of restrictions, he will allocate from one of the funds at his disposal a sum of money sufficient to finance a campaign to counteract such propaganda?
§ Mr. W. R. SMITHTourists agents and others advertise from time to time the advantages of Continental resorts, but my hon. Friend deplores the method sometimes adopted of belittling British resorts. As regards the suggestion of a campaign in favour of British resorts, I would inform the hon. Member that the Travel Association of Great Britain and Ireland is engaged on a campaign of publicity abroad, in order to increase the number of visitors to this country, which campaign has the support of His Majesty's Government, who make a grant to the Association. If the hon. Member is interested in this question, I would invite him to call at the offices of the Travel Association and examine the work that is being undertaken.

§ The number of sides of beef graded and marked at Birkenhead was 22,009.
§ My information is that no beef graded in the Scottish scheme in 1930 was from fat Irish cattle consigned for slaughter at the grading centres.
§ It is impossible to say what proportion of the beef graded in Scotland or England was from store cattle bred in Ireland and fattened in Great Britain.
§ 42. Mr. PYBUSasked the Minister of Agriculture if he will state the cost of grading the 254,569 sides of Home-killed 794 the Minister earmark a contribution for the express purpose of counteracting this unpatriotic propaganda which urges people to desert English seaside resorts and have the time of their lives abroad—[Interruption.]
