§ 60. Mr. CAMPBELL (for Sir N. GRATTAN-DOYLE)asked the Secretary to the Overseas Trade Department whether it is proposed, after the closing of the present British Empire Exhibition in South America, to organise another similar exhibition in one of the principal industrial areas of this country
§ Mr. GILLETT (Secretary, Overseas Trade Department)I am not aware of any such proposal. The British Empire Exhibition in Buenos Aires had been organised by private enterprise under the auspices of the British Chamber of Commerce in the Argentine Republic. The responsibility of His Majesty's Government in the United Kingdom towards the exhibition is limited to the organisation of an official exhibit. The hon. Member will be aware that in the British Industries Fair, held each year in London and Birmingham, we already have a comprehensive display of the products of British industry.
