§ 46. Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHYasked the Prime Minister whether the Economy Committee has inquired into the expenditure of any of the fighting services; if so, which ones have been examined; and whether interim reports are to be issued?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI understand that the committee is now completing its examination of the fighting services. It is not proposed to issue interim reports, as it is expected that a comprehensive report will be ready shortly.
§ Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHYIs my right hon. Friend aware that the Geddes Committee did issue interim reports, which I believe were very valuable, and could this matter be reconsidered?
§ Lieut.-Commander KENWORTHYCould this not be reconsidered in view of the great need of economy?
§ The PRIME MINISTERI think the House would like to have a full report rather than any number of interim reports.
§ Sir K. WOODIf legislative proposals are made such as were introduced last week, involving considerable expenditure of money, will the opinion of this committee be communicated to this House?
§ The PRIME MINISTERIt may be.
