§ Dr. ADDISONI have arranged to meet representatives of tithe-owners on the 25th June, and I am also asking representatives of tithe-payers to meet me. I shall be guided by the proceedings at these conferences as to further action.
§ Captain P. MACDONALDCan the right hon. Gentleman say on what authority he is proposing to legislate in regard to tithe?
§ Dr. ADDISONI do not know what the hon. and gallant Member means.
§ Captain MACDONALDI asked a question the other day, and the right hon. Gentleman told me that he had no authority to legislate in regard to tithe; yet he is now calling these conferences.
§ Dr. ADDISONThe hon. and gallant Member is under a misapprehension. I am doing my best to approach this question by calling these conferences to see if we can remove some of the existing difficulties.
