HC Deb 22 June 1931 vol 254 c30
40. Mr. HANNON

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether he is in a position to make a statement on the reconstruction of Austrian public finance?

Mr. A. HENDERSON

I have nothing to add to the statement which appeared in the Press on 18th June, that the Bank of England had advanced £4,500,000 to assist Austria.

Mr. HANNON

Will the right hon. Gentleman do everything in his power-to help Austria as opportunity offers?

Mr. HENDERSON

I can only say we welcome the news of the action taken by the Bank of England, and we hope it will have that effect.
