HC Deb 18 June 1931 vol 253 c1917
18. Mr. R. S. YOUNG

asked the Minister of Labour the name of the chairman of the court of referees who officiate at Holloway Road, Islington, Employment Exchange, the number of cases heard since the beginning of this year, and the number of claims disallowed?

Miss BONDFIELD

The sittings of this court during the period 13th January to 8th June, 1931, were presided over either by the chairman, Mr. F. J. Kershaw, or by Mr. J. C. Adams, a reserve chairman. During the period 1,803 cases were considered by the court and 1,482 were disallowed.

Mr. YOUNG

If the Minister happens to have any reason to think that these decisions are unjust, has she any power to intervene?

Miss BONDFIELD

I have power to bring any new facts before the courts.
