HC Deb 17 June 1931 vol 253 c1746
67. Mr. MANDER

asked the Minister of Labour the position with regard to the dispute in the Willenhall drop forgings industry affecting the firm of the William James Manufacturing Company, Limited?

Mr. LAWSON

A joint meeting was held last week under the auspices of my Department, but no agreement was reached. The services of the Department remain at the disposal of the parties.

Mr. MANDER

Is the hon. Gentleman aware that the men in this dispute have been refused unemployment benefit because they have declined to accept employment at from 15s. to 20s. a week less than the standard rate; and will he take action to see that they get it?

Mr. LAWSON

I am not aware of the fact stated by the hon. Member, but, if he will put a question down, I will give him the necessary information.
