asked the Secretary of State for War the number of Army horses that have been cast during the 12 months ended to the last convenient date and sold for human consumption; and to whom they were sold?

During the year ended 31st May last, 727 Army horses were sold as fit for human consumption. Such animals are destroyed in the presence of a military representative. The purchasers were Messrs. Harrison, Barber and Company, Limited, London, and Messrs. Smith and Spalding, Limited, London.

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether these horses were slaughtered in London?
