HC Deb 15 June 1931 vol 253 cc1436-7
67. Sir G. PENNY

asked the Minister of Health whether the Government will consider the possibility of investigating an all-in insurance scheme, including unemployment and health benefits and pensions, to be applicable to a large section of the population?

Miss LAWRENCE

This was one of the subjects considered by the Cabinet Committee which was set up to make a general survey of the national insurance and pensions schemes, and is dealt with in their report, which is still under the consideration of the Government.

Sir G. PENNY

Will the hon. Lady keep in mind that it is far better to have a bona fide insurance scheme than this haphazard dole system?
