§ 64. Captain P. MACDONALDasked the Minister of Agriculture in how many cases during the past 12 months farmers' plant and livestock have been distrained upon for payment of tithe: and whether he proposes to introduce legislation to protect farmers against distraint for tithe in cases where land is not being operated at a profit?
§ Dr. ADDISONThe Ministry has no statutory powers or duties with regard to the collection of annual tithe rent-charge, and I am not, therefore, in a position to answer the first part of the question, but I am hoping to arrange a conference with some of the parties concerned for a discussion of existing difficulties.
