HC Deb 10 June 1931 vol 253 c1004
48. Mr. PERKINS

asked the Minister of Transport whether he is aware that the village of Painswick, near Stroud, is not yet supplied with electricity from the West Gloucester Power Company; and whether he will draw the attention of the Electricity Commissioners to the need of this supply being given?

Mr. PARKINSON

My right hon. Friend is aware that the village of Painswick, near Stroud is not yet supplied with electricity by the West Gloucester Power Company. The lack of supply has been the subject of correspondence and discussion between the Electricity Commissioners and the Company, and he is informed that the Company, as a result of detailed inquiry, are of opinion that the demand for electricity in this District is at present insufficient to ensure a revenue sufficient to meet the cost of supply, etc., apart from any return on the capital required.
