§ Miss LAWRENCEThere were 11,839 cases of smallpox among the civilian population notified in England and Wales (including port sanitary districts) during the 53 weeks ended 3rd January, 1931. Of the total deaths registered in England and Wales during the calendar year 1930, 28 were classified to smallpox.
