asked the Secretary of State for Scotland whether he can assure the House that the consumption of the alcoholic beverage known as red biddy is still on the decrease in Scotland?

I am making inquiries into this matter, and I will communicate with the hon. Member when these inquiries are completed.

Will the right hon. Gentleman keep the Chancellor of the Exchequer in touch with the amount which is consumed, for excise purposes?

Will the right hon. Gentleman's inquiries be completed by the end of the year?

I think so.
