Mr. BRACKENasked the Secretary of State for India whether, in view of the fact that Mr. Gandhi has publicly stated that members of the Congress movement have broken the agreement made between the late Viceroy and Mr. Gandhi, His Majesty's Government and the Government of India will now denounce that agreement and press for the imposition of penalties on all who commit breaches of the Law?
§ Mr. BENNThe answer to the first question is "No". Breaches of the law are not, of course, affected by the agreement.
§ Mr. BRACKENIs it not a fact that this agreement was signed between the late Viceroy and Mr. Gandhi, and that Mr. Gandhi himself admits that it has been broken, and will the Secretary of State take action? [Interruption.]
