(by Private Notice) asked the Secretary of State for India whether he is in a position to make any statement regarding the assault upon two British officers in India which resulted in the death of one of them?

I regret to say that I have not yet received any official information about this tragic incident. When information has been re-received, I will put it at the disposal of the House at the earliest opportunity. I am sure that the House would wish me to express their deepest sympathy with the relatives of the deceased officer.
