HC Deb 23 July 1931 vol 255 c1662
20. Mr. LOVAT-FRASER

asked the Home Secretary how many women proceeded against for infanticide during the five years following the passing of the Infanticide Act, 1922, were certified under the Mental Deficiency Acts?

Mr. CLYNES

I am afraid the only figure I can give is for women convicted of infanticide who were ordered by the Court to be sent to Institutions for Mental Defectives. That number for the period in question is two.
