§ Mr. DALTONThere has been no material change in the situation in the neighbourhood of Canton since the 6th July, when my right hon. Friend last answered a question on this subject. The National Government have opened their campaign against the brigand forces in Kiangsi. Skirmishes appear to have taken place in the neighbourhood of the Peking-Hankow Railway between the troops of a rebel general and certain Manchurian divisions of the National Army.
