HC Deb 22 July 1931 vol 255 c1484
53. Commander BELLAIRS

asked the Minister of Health whether he will introduce a Bill to repeal Section 10, Subsection (1), of the Housing (Financial Provisions) Act, 1924, so far as it forbids the Minister imposing any condition in regard to the construction of houses which would prevent the materials required being purchased in the cheapest market at home or abroad?

Miss LAWRENCE

My right hon. Friend does not think this proposal is practicable.

Commander BELLAIRS

Does not this provision prevent the direction of the Ministry being carried out in regard to British and Empire manufactures?

Miss LAWRENCE

No, Sir. The Minister has given advice to the local authorities and there, at present, the matter remains.
